Privacy policy

1. Controller

AMZ-PRODUCTS GmbH, Krummspät 78, 26810 Westoverledingen, Germany, represented by Thomas Porrmann, Lisa Saadthoff. Email: [email protected], phone: +49 160 7757026. More in the legal notice. As a German company we process personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Summary

  • The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs (age, portfolio, contributions, spending, returns, income) are not sent to us and not stored by us.
  • We do not set cookies, use no analytics or tracking tools and load nothing from third-party servers (fonts and styles are hosted on our own web space).
  • If you buy the spreadsheet, you pay through Stripe, which processes your payment and contact details (section 5). Neither Stripe nor we receive your calculator inputs.
  • There are no forms and no customer accounts on this website.

3. Hosting by DigitalOcean

This website is hosted by DigitalOcean, LLC (New York, USA). Whenever a page is requested, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address (including any parameters, e.g. from an ad), amount of data transferred, browser and operating system, and the referring page. Purpose: delivering the website, security and stable operation. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure, working service). Recipient: DigitalOcean as our processor. Data may be transferred to the USA; the transfer is based on an adequacy decision of the European Commission (Art. 45 GDPR, EU-US Data Privacy Framework) where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise on EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). We do not analyze these logs. Retention: log data is kept only as long as needed for delivery, security and troubleshooting, at most 14 days, and then deleted; individual entries are kept longer only if needed to investigate a specific security incident, and only until it is resolved.

4. Local storage in your browser for the spreadsheet

Only when you click “Buy the spreadsheet” or “Download my Coast FIRE spreadsheet” does the page store your calculator inputs in your browser's local storage (localStorage) on your device. This is necessary so that the spreadsheet can be created in your browser with your numbers after payment, and so that the calculator shows your numbers again when you return to download it without paying again. The data never leaves your device; we cannot read it. When you click “Buy the spreadsheet”, the page also stores a marker without personal data (value “1”) showing that a purchase was started from this browser; only then does the download button appear. Legal basis for storing on your device: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act – strictly necessary for the service you requested). You can delete your numbers with “Delete my saved numbers on this device” or remove both entries at any time in your browser settings.

5. Payment through Stripe

Payment for the spreadsheet is handled by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited (1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, D02 H210, Ireland). Clicking “Buy the spreadsheet” opens Stripe's checkout page, where you enter your payment details (e.g. card details), your email address and, where applicable, name and country. Stripe processes this data to carry out the payment, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. From Stripe we receive the purchase details (amount, time, email address, where applicable name and country, payment status), not your full card details. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (retention duties under tax and commercial law). Stripe may transfer data to affiliates in the USA (Stripe, Inc.); this is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR) where Stripe is certified under it, and otherwise on EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). Stripe's own privacy policy also applies to the checkout page. Retention on our side: purchase records are kept for the statutory retention periods (German Commercial Code, Tax Code) and deleted afterwards.

6. Ads on Google (Google Ads)

We may promote the calculator with search ads on Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). No Google code is embedded on this website: no conversion tracking, no remarketing, no Google cookies. If you click an ad, Google processes data about your click under its own responsibility and privacy policy; data may also be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. The ad's target address may contain a parameter (e.g. which ad group you saw), which appears in the server logs as described in section 3. We only see how often ads were shown and clicked (aggregated figures in the Google Ads account). Legal basis for our advertising: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

7. Contact by email or phone

If you write to us or call us, we process your details to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them when they are no longer needed and no statutory retention duties apply. Please do not send us account statements or other financial documents.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). Please use the contact details above.

9. Right to lodge a complaint

You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority responsible for us: Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany.

10. No automated decision-making

There is no automated decision-making, including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR). The calculator is a non-binding calculation in your browser.
